Le’Veon Bell bolted Pittsburgh after wearing the franchise tag two consecutive seasons, but could he join a familiar face in Oakland?
NFL Network reported the versatile running back is near the top of the wish list for the Oakland Raiders, who have a deal in place with the Steelers to acquire wide receiver Antonio Brown. That deal cannot be official until Wednesday, the first day of the new league year.
Adding Bell — the Raiders also are high on Patriots left tackle Trent Brown, per multiple reports — would complete a dramatic overhaul of an offense that sputtered and choked out in Jon Gruden’s return to the sideline in 2018.
Bell didn’t play last season, eschewing $15 million to hold out for more money and a massive payday in March.
Now that March and free agency arrived, Bell appears to have a host of suitors, including the Raiders, New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers.
The Raiders also have three picks in the first round of the 2019 draft.

Injuries decimated the Chiefs in the secondary last season, and Kansas City was reportedly near a deal to acquire Earl Thomas from the Seattle Seahawks via trade before a season-ending injury imploded that deal.
With cap space to operate with and a determined focus on rebuilding what was one of the NFL’s worst defenses last season, the Chiefs are still locked on Thomas, per reports.
Thomas, 29, is recovering from a broken leg for the second time in three years (2016, 2018).
Also complicating matters for the Chiefs, and other suitors, the field for Thomas is likely to be packed and include the Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans and others.
