BYU coach Dave Rose is stepping down Tuesday at a press conference according to multiple reports. Rose, 61, plans to retire after coaching the Cougars since 2005 and winning 348 games. Utah Jazz assistant coach Alex Jensen is among the candidates to take over at BYU, Jeff Goodman of Stadium reported Tuesday. Rose made the NCAA Tournament eight times in 14 seasons. He coached in 2007 when Jimmer Fredette was named National Player of the Year. Prior to coaching, Rose was co-captain of Houston’s Phi Slama Jama team with Clyde Drexler and Hakeem Olajuwon that finished as runner-up in the 1983 NCAA Tournament. He was a high school coach before joining BYU as an assistant coach in 1997. –Field Level Media
