Inter Miami CF is trading U.S. men’s national team defender DeAndre Yedlin to FC Cincinnati for $172,000 in general allocation money, the Cincinnati Enquirer and The Athletic reported Sunday.
Yedlin, 30, had joined Miami in 2022 after playing abroad for eight years. Cincinnati will mark his third MLS club after he broke into the league with his hometown Seattle Sounders.
Yedlin will play right wing-back for FC Cincinnati, per the reports. The club opened the 2024 season with one win and one draw after winning the Supporters’ Shield for the best regular-season record last year.
Miami — which has taken on plenty of big-name players in the past year, led by Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez — gains some salary-cap flexibility. Yedlin’s cap hit was reported to be $683,000.
Yedlin has one goal and 15 assists over 121 career MLS games for the Sounders (2013-14) and Inter Miami (2022-24). He has also played for Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland (on loan) and Newcastle United in the English Premier League along with Turkish giant Galatasaray.
Yedlin has made 81 appearances for the USMNT and played on the Americans’ past two World Cup teams, in 2022 and 2014.
