The PGA of America will announce the 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup captain at noon ET on Tuesday in New York.
Tiger Woods is considered the leading candidate for the post, if his busy schedule allows it.
“We’re still talking,” Woods, 48, told reporters at the PGA Championship in May. “There’s nothing that has been confirmed yet. We’re still working on what that might look like. Also whether or not I have the time to do it.”
Other potential choices include 2021 captain Steve Stricker, Fred Couples, Stewart Cink, Davis Love III, Jim Furyk, Zach Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Rickie Fowler and Phil Mickelson.
PGA of America president John Lindert will make the announcement at the NASDAQ building. It will be broadcast on Golf Channel and SiriusXM and livestreamed on the PGA’s Facebook and X (Twitter) accounts.
The biennial competition will take place from Sept. 26-28, 2025, at Bethpage Black on Long Island, N.Y.
Luke Donald returns as the European captain after leading his team to victory in Rome in 2023.
