The Seattle Mariners reinstated left-hander Gabe Speier from the injured list Friday in advance of a game against the Houston Astros and designated right-hander Mike Baumann for assignment.
Speier, 29, had been out since late May with a left rotator cuff strain. He was 0-2 this season with a 6.06 ERA in 22 relief outings. In six major league seasons with the Kansas City Royals (2019-22) and Mariners, Speier is 2-6 with a 4.14 ERA in 132 appearances (one start).
Baumann, 28, went 3-0 with a 4.41 ERA in 35 games for both the Baltimore Orioles and Mariners this season. In four seasons with the Orioles and Mariners, he is 15-5 with a 4.57 ERA in 112 appearances (four starts).
