The Miami Marlins placed right-hander Anthony Bender on the 15-day injured list on Thursday without an injury designation.
The move is retroactive to Monday. Bender, 29, last pitched on Saturday, allowing three hits, one walk and three runs with two strikeouts in one inning of a 9-8, 10-inning loss to the San Diego Padres.
Bender is 4-2 with a 4.00 ERA, 13 walks and 50 strikeouts in 45 innings over 50 relief appearances this year.
He missed all of the 2023 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery on Aug. 30, 2022. Bender is 8-7 with nine saves, a 3.29 ERA, 41 walks and 138 strikeouts in 125 2/3 innings over 132 games (one start) in parts of three seasons with Miami since 2021.
In a corresponding move Thursday, the Marlins recalled rookie right-hander Emmanuel Ramirez from Triple-A Jacksonville. Ramirez, 30, is 0-1 with a 5.51 ERA, six walks and 16 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings in 12 relief appearances for the Marlins this season.
