Seth Jarvis is staying with the Carolina Hurricanes, signing an eight-year, $63.2 million contract on Saturday that includes $29.24 million in signing bonuses.
“Seth is a cornerstone player for our franchise,” general manager Eric Tulsky said Saturday. “He took another huge step last season, playing in all situations and displaying the skill and competitive drive that will make him a star in this league in the years to come.”
Jarvis, 22, was a restricted free agent, and he was rewarded after a season in which he ranked second on the team in goals (33) and third in points (67). His totals of goals and points both were career highs, as were his 34 assists and 13 power-play goals.
The forward added five goals and four assists in 11 postseason games.
Selected by Carolina with the 13th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, the Winnipeg native has 64 goals and 82 assists in 231 regular-season games in three seasons with the Hurricanes.
