The season finale between the Houston Astros and the Cleveland Guardians was wiped out Sunday due to ongoing rain in the Cleveland area.
With the regular season about to end, the game will not be made up. Cleveland finishes the year with a 92-69 record and Houston wraps up at 88-73.
Neither team’s playoff seeding would have changed no matter the outcome of the 162nd game.
The Guardians are American League Central champs and the No. 2 seed in the AL playoffs, behind only the New York Yankees. The Astros won the AL West and will face the No. 6 seed Detroit Tigers in the wild-card round.
