Down 13 in 2nd half, Oregon upends Portland in OT

Jadrian Tracey had 19 points and four steals and Oregon overcame a 13-point, second-half deficit to deliver an 80-70 overtime victory over Portland on Tuesday night in nonconference play at Eugene, Ore.

Keeshawn Barthelemy scored 11 of his 13 points after halftime for the Ducks (3-0). Jackson Shelstad had 13 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals and Nate Bittle added 13 points and nine rebounds for Oregon.

The Ducks scored the first 11 points of overtime after scoring 18 of the final 25 points in regulation.

Vincent Delano and Vukasin Masic had 12 points apiece for the Pilots (1-2). Chris Austin had 11 points and Todd Jones added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Tracey scored the first three points of overtime as Oregon took its first lead since 17-16 in the first half. He later sprinted down court for a fastbreak slam to make it 76-67 with 1:16 remaining as the Ducks averted the upset bid of the Pilots.

Earlier, Barthelemy made two treys during an 8-0 run as Oregon trimmed an 11-point deficit to 60-57 with 2:59 remaining in regulation.

Austin made two free throws to give Portland a 67-62 lead with 35.6 seconds to go. Barthelemy drained a 3-pointer to cut the Oregon deficit to two with 29.9 seconds left.

Austin Rapp missed two free throws with 27.1 seconds left and Oregon took advantage with Tracey converting a layup with nine seconds left to tie it.

TJ Bamba added 10 points for the Ducks, who shot 40.6 percent from the field, including 7 of 31 from 3-point range.

Portland made 37.5 percent of its attempts and was 11 of 31 from behind the arc.

Masic’s jumper gave Portland a 54-41 lead with 8:11 left.

The Ducks answered with six straight points before Masic banked in a straightaway 3-pointer to make it 57-47 with 5:29 left.

Bittle hit a jumper to bring Oregon within eight but Delano answered with a trey for a 60-49 lead with 4:46 to play. The Ducks then made their run.

Delano had eight first-half points as Portland led 31-23 at the break. Jackson Shelstad had seven for the Ducks, who made just 9 of 33 (27.3 percent) of their first-half shots.

The Ducks led by three midway through the first half before the Pilots used a 12-3 run to take a 23-17 lead on Jones’ tip-in with 4:48 left in the half. Oregon never led again until a free throw by Tracey 19 seconds into overtime.
