The Dallas Stars placed center Tyler Seguin on injured reserve with a lower-body injury on Monday, retroactive to Sunday.
Players must remain on short-term IR for a minimum of seven days, meaning Seguin will miss at least this week’s three-game road trip (Monday at Utah, Wednesday at Los Angeles and Friday at Vegas). He could be eligible to return for Sunday’s home game against Calgary.
Stars coach Pete DeBoer told reporters earlier Monday that Seguin did not make the trip to Salt Lake City so he could be evaluated.
In 19 games, Seguin has put up 20 points (nine goals, 11 assists). The 32-year-old has played for Dallas since the 2013-14 season following three campaigns with the Boston Bruins; he has 808 points (360 goals, 448 assists) in his 988-game career.
The Stars also recalled forward Justin Hryckowian from AHL affiliate Texas and loaned defenseman Alexander Petrovic to the minor league club.
