Great Osobor scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as host Washington defeated Maryland 75-69 on Thursday night in Seattle for their first Big Ten Conference victory.
Freshman Zoom Diallo came off the bench and scored 17 of his career-high 18 points after the intermission for the Huskies (10-4, 1-2 Big Ten), who overcame a nine-point, second-half deficit.
DJ Davis added 15 points for Washington, including four free throws in the final 24 seconds to help clinch the victory in the first meeting between the schools.
Freshman Derik Queen, who entered the game leading the Terrapins (11-3, 1-2) with 16.8 points per game, was limited by foul trouble and managed just four points.
Trailing 58-55, the Huskies went on a 7-0 run sparked by Diallo’s driving layup with 5:33 to go. He followed with a steal and got the ball to Davis, who was fouled and made both free throws to give the Huskies the lead.
A steal by Luis Kortright led to a layup and a foul and his three-point play put Washington up 62-58 with 4:57 left.
Maryland led 33-30 at the intermission and opened the second half with an 8-2 run to take a 41-32 lead, but the Huskies battled back and tied the score at 46-46 with 10 minutes remaining.
