Fordham self-imposed a four-game suspension for men’s basketball coach Keith Urgo in connection with an investigation into NCAA recruiting violations, the school announced Thursday.
The suspension will begin Jan. 22 when the Rams (8-10, 0-5 Atlantic-10) play their next game at Loyola Chicago. He also will miss a home game against Duquesne and road games at LaSalle and St. Bonaventure.
Associate head coach Tray Woodall will serve as the interim coach.
“Fordham has and will continue lending full cooperation to the NCAA during their investigation, including following the NCAA’s bylaws to maintain confidentiality,” said Bob Howe, the school’s associate vice president for media and public relations. “Therefore, we’re unable to share any more details on the matter at this time.”
Urgo is in his third season as the Rams coach and has an overall record of 46-38.
