BetBoom Team and HEROIC came away with 2-0 wins on Saturday in meetings between unbeaten teams at the Dota 2 Fissure Playground event in Belgrade, Serbia.
Sporting a 2-0 record at the time, BetBoom Team beat Team Liquid in 29 minutes on green and in 29 minutes on red behind an average kills-deaths-assists ratio of 9.5-2.0-15.0 from Russian Matvey “MieRo” Vasyunin.
Adrian “Wisper” Dobles of Bolivia supplied an average K-D-A of 12.0-2.0-19.0 as HEROIC earned a 49-minute win on green against Team Spirit before prevailing in 45 minutes on red.
The $1 million Dota tournament is starting with 16 teams competing in a group stage using a modified Swiss system. Group-play matches consist of a single map in the early going, then are best-of-three for matches that determine advancement or elimination.
The top eight teams in the group phase move on to the double-elimination playoffs. All playoff matches will be best-of-three except for the grand final on Feb. 2, which will be best-of-five.
In four matches pitting 1-1 teams against each other on Saturday, the squads only played on one map. Talon Esports got by Tundra Esports, PARIVISION defeated Yakult Brothers, Gaimin Gladiators got the best of Aurora Gaming and Team Falcons bested Wildcard.
Two elimination matches were held, with Xtreme Gaming blanking Chimera Esports 2-0 and AVULUS sinking Shopify Rebellion by the same score.
