Micah Peavy had a game-high 22 points and Thomas Sorber had his eighth double-double of the season as Georgetown rolled by Seton Hall 60-46 on Saturday in Washington, D.C.
Sorber leads the nation in double-doubles by a freshman.
The Hoyas improved to 15-9 (6-7 Big East), still looking to finish in the top five in the conference and get a first-round bye in its tournament.
It was the lowest scoring output of the season for the Pirates (6-18, 1-12), who have dropped nine in a row, their longest losing streak since losing nine straight in the 2012-13 season.
Georgetown started the game 1-7 from the floor and had only two points after the first five minutes. Seton Hall controlled the tempo and kept Sorber tightly covered inside.
When Prince Aligbe hit a tough jumper off the glass and converted on a 3-point play, the Pirates led 15-9, but the Hoyas clawed back.
Malik Mack hit a 3 from the wing with 4:47 left in the half for the Hoyas and the run was on. Caleb Williams followed with a basket on a fast break to put Georgetown ahead for the first time, 23-22. After two free throws by Isaiah Coleman gave the Pirates the lead, the Hoyas reeled off seven straight in a 42-second span capped by a dunk by Sorber to go up 30-24.
In the final five minutes of the half, Georgetown outscored Seton Hall 16-4 to lead 34-26 at halftime.
Seton Hall cut the Georgetown lead to 48-45 after a Coleman drive with 5:20 left but the Pirates offense sputtered down the stretch and didn’t make another field goal. Coleman was the only Seton Hall player in double figures with 21.
Seton Hall was playing with just eight scholarship players and again was missing three starters: Chaunce Jenkins (knee), Scotty Middleton (ankle) and Dylan Addae-Wusu (ankle). Reserve big man Emmanuel Okorafor (ankle) was also out.
Pirates freshman center Godswill Erheriene had a career high eight points to go with seven rebounds.
After missing the past two games with an illness, Jayden Epps returned to action for the Hoyas and finished with three points.
