Rangers sign RHP Luke Jackson to 1-year deal

Luke Jackson

Right-handed reliever Luke Jackson, a first-round pick of the Texas Rangers in 2010, returned to his original team on Monday by signing a one-year contract.

Jackson, 33, played for the San Francisco Giants and Atlanta Braves in 2024, posting a 4-3 record with a 5.09 ERA, 59 strikeouts and 26 walks in 53 innings over 52 relief appearances.

Jackson made his debut with Texas on Sept. 4, 2015, and pitched parts of two seasons with the club, posting an 8.50 ERA in 15 relief appearances. In 18 innings, he struck out nine and walked 10.

In nine seasons with the Rangers (2015-16), Braves (2017-22, 2024) and Giants (2023-24), Jackson is 22-11 with 19 saves and a 4.24 ERA over 358 1/3 innings in 338 relief appearances.

The Rangers placed right-hander Josh Sborz (right shoulder surgery recovery) on the 60-day injured list to open a spot for Jackson on the 40-man roster.
