Xander Schauffele will make his return to active competition at next week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando, Fla.
Schauffele, who is No. 2 in the Official World Golf Ranking, has been nursing a rib cage injury since tying for 30th place in the season-opening The Sentry in Hawaii.
“It’s been a slow recovery, the rib cage seems to be a nagging, slowish recovery area due to a lack of blood flow and the constant use,” Schauffele told Today’s Golfer. “I just wanted to be 100 percent before I returned and sacrificed a bit on this front end (of the season) to make sure the back end is safe.”
Schauffele, 31, captured his first major title at the 2024 PGA Championship before the San Diego native won the Open Championship a few weeks later.
