Jacob deGrom took a no-hitter into the eighth inning while Josh Jung drilled a two-run homer and drove in three runs as the Texas Rangers defeated the host Baltimore Orioles 7-0 on Wednesday night.

Colton Cowser’s eighth-inning single marked Baltimore’s only hit.

deGrom (8-2) carried a perfect game into the seventh inning, but Jackson Holliday worked a leadoff walk on seven pitches. With two outs in the inning, Ryan O’Hearn drew another walk.

deGrom threw 86 pitches through seven innings. Cowser hit deGrom’s third pitch of the eighth to right field for a single, which led to a pitching change. deGrom, who improved to 4-0 in June, finished with seven strikeouts.

Jacob Webb and Cole Winn each pitched an inning in relief to complete the Rangers’ eighth shutout of the season.

Jonah Heim homered and joined Jung with two hits. Marcus Semien posted three hits as the Rangers captured the rubber game of the three-game series. Texas finished a 4-2 road trip.

It was the second game in a row a Texas starter held a no-hitter entering the seventh inning, but this time the Rangers ended up with a shutout.

Orioles starter Brandon Young (0-2) took the loss after giving up four runs and five hits in four innings. Baltimore has lost four of its last five games.

The Rangers struck for a run in the second inning on Jung’s two-out single. He homered in the fourth, also with two outs.

Texas tacked on three runs in the fifth. Corey Seager and Semien rapped RBI singles and Adolis Garcia provided a sacrifice fly.

Heim homered in the sixth for his eighth long ball, matching Jung’s season total.

Baltimore scored in only one of the last 20 innings in the series.
