Italy’s Jonathan Milan won a sprint to the finish line to win Stage 17 of the 2025 Tour de France on Wednesday.

The Trek racer battled rainy conditions in the 160.4-kilometer course from Bollene to Valence for his second stage victory of the event. Milan finished in 3 hours, 25 minutes and 30 seconds, narrowly edging out an eight-racer group that included Jordi Meeus, Tobias Lund Andresen, Arnaud De Lie, Davide Ballerini, Alberto Dainese, Paul Penhoet and Yevgeniy Fedorov.

The group avoided getting caught up in a crash that included fellow sprint specialist Tim Merlier, who ended up finishing 25th.

Milan also extended his lead for the green jersey awarded to the top sprinter to 72 points over defending Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar.

Only four races remain in the event, with Pogacar maintain control of the yellow jersey as the Slovenian seeks his fourth Tour de France victory. The race now moves to the French Alps for a pair of difficult mountain stages.

Pogacar holds a 4 minute, 15 second lead over his biggest rival Jonas Vingegaard of Denmark. Nearly another five minutes back is Germany’s Florian Lipowitz. Lipowitz holds the lead for the White jersey given to the race’s top young rider.

Thursday’s Stage 18 is a 171.5-kilometer course that travels through the Alps from Vif to Courchevel Col de la Loze, featuring a vertical gain of 5,500 meters.

The race concludes in Paris on Sunday.
