Brooks Lee hit a walk-off, two-run single in the bottom of the ninth inning, lifting the Minnesota Twins to a 5-4 win over the Boston Red Sox on Monday night in Minneapolis.

The game was delayed by violent storms before the start of the bottom of the ninth. The teams resumed after more than an hour delay, and the Twins promptly rallied for the victory.

DaShawn Keirsey Jr. singled before Red Sox reliever Jordan Hicks (1-7) hit back-to-back batters with pitches. Boston got a forceout at home before Lee singled to left.

Keirsey went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, helping Minnesota snap a two-game skid. Christian Vazquez also drove in a run for the Twins, and Royce Lewis had two hits.

Alex Bregman went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer for Boston, which dropped the series opener. Roman Anthony went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Wilyer Abreu had three hits.

Twins right-hander Jhoan Duran (6-4) earned the victory in relief despite giving up one run on one hit in his lone inning.

Hicks surrendered two runs on two hits in one-third of an inning.

Boston’s David Hamilton swiped two bases in the top of the ninth to set the stage for a tiebreaking single by Anthony to make it 4-3 in favor of the Red Sox. Hamilton entered the game as a pinch runner for Abraham Toro, who had walked. He stole second and third before scoring when Anthony punched a hit to center.

The Twins jumped to a 2-0 lead in the third inning. Vazquez drew a leadoff walk, and Keirsey followed moments later by slamming a two-run homer to left-center field.

The Red Sox erased the deficit with one swing of the bat in the fifth. Bregman stepped to the plate with runners on first and second and no outs, and he hammered a 418-foot homer over the wall in center to put Boston on top 3-2.

Bregman showed no reaction as he jogged around the bases after his 14th home run, which landed in the Red Sox bullpen. It marked his second straight game with a homer.

The Twins pulled even at 3-all in the sixth when Vazquez hit a sacrifice fly to center to drive in Lewis, who had singled.
