The Los Angeles Sparks are building a $150 million training and practice center in suburban El Segundo.

In its announcement on Wednesday, the franchise said the facility is the largest investment to date by one team in the history of women’s sports.

The 55,000-square-foot center will include two WNBA regulation-size courts, a weight room and training spaces that allow for natural light, nap rooms, “flexible wellness spaces” for activities such as yoga, a view of the Pacific Ocean, hydrotherapy and spa suites, and more.

It is expected to open in 2027.

“We’re building a place where Sparks players can be at their best on and off the court,” said Eric Holoman, managing partner and governor of the Sparks. “From cutting-edge training and recovery spaces to family and community areas, every corner of this facility was designed with them at the center. It reflects our commitment to our team, our fans, and the city of Los Angeles, and sets a new standard for what a professional sports organization can provide for its athletes.”

The Sparks, an original WNBA team that began play in 1997, have made 20 appearances in the WNBA playoffs and won three league championships. Los Angeles finished 21-23 this season and missed the postseason for the fifth consecutive season.
