An untimely eight-game skid knocked the Texas Rangers out of the playoff race.

Next up is determining whether Bruce Bochy remains as manager of the club.

Bochy and president of baseball operations Chris Young will discuss the Texas future after the season and see if the two still share the same vision.

Bochy’s three-year contract with the team is set to expire. He guided the Rangers to their lone World Series title in 2023 but has missed the postseason the past two seasons. Texas was formally eliminated on Tuesday.

“The two of us will sit down and talk about where things are, what happened this year, where we’re going,” Young told reporters Thursday. “There’s things that I’m sure he’s going to want to know about the future of the team and we’ll talk about it, like we did three years ago, and figure it out.”

Bochy, a future Hall of Famer, and Young have a unique relationship. Young pitched for Bochy in 2006 as a member of the San Diego Padres. He also successfully lured Bochy out of a three-year retirement to manage the Rangers.

Bochy has won four World Series crowns, including three with the San Francisco Giants in 2010, 2012 and 2014. He also managed in the World Series with the Padres in 1998 when that franchise lost to the New York Yankees.

Bochy, 70, ranks sixth on the all-time victories list and has a record of 2,251-2,264 in 28 seasons.

Ron Washington, 73, of the Los Angeles Angels is the only active manager older than Bochy. Washington has missed the past three-plus months after quadruple bypass heart surgery.

Bochy declined to discuss his future after Thursday’s 4-0 home loss to the Minnesota Twins. But he said he is enjoying his time with the Rangers.

“Oh, I’ve really had a great time, and it’s as much fun as I’ve had in the game,” Bochy said of returning to the game after retirement. “I said this when I came back, you have a deeper appreciation when you’re out, especially for three years and you realize what you have, how blessed you are to be doing what you’re doing. It’s been a lot of fun and I still love it, and enjoy it.”
