Kent Johnson, Adam Fantilli and Kirill Marchenko scored in the shootout to give the Columbus Blue Jackets a 5-4 win over the host Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night.

Dmitri Voronkov had two goals and Charlie Coyle and Yegor Chinakhov also scored for the Blue Jackets, who blew a two-goal third period lead. Elvis Merzlikins stopped 26 shots and Evgeni Malkin on the final shootout attempt as Columbus won for the third time in four games.

Anthony Mantha and Kris Letang had a goal and an assist each and Ryan Shea and Bryan Rust scored for the Penguins, who had their four-game winning streak snapped. Malkin had two assists and Arturs Silovs made 37 saves.

Rust and Sidney Crosby connected in the shootout.

Rust tied it with 3:06 left with his first goal this season. He one-timed a shot from beneath the right circle just as Silovs left the ice for the extra attacker.

Letang’s power-play goal brought Pittsburgh to within one with 5:06 left on a one-time slap shot from the high slot. It was Letang’s first goal of the campaign.

Chinakhov’s first goal this season gave the Blue Jackets a 3-2 lead 1:55 into the third period on a snap shot from the top of the right circle.

Voronkov made it 4-2 at 4:54 when he deflected in a shot pass off the rush. It was his fifth goal this season.

Voronkov tied the game 2-2 with 2:21 left in the second period. He scored on a one-timer from the bottom of the left circle.

Pittsburgh led 2-1 after the first period.

Shea scored on the Penguins’ first shot, 59 seconds into the game, from the left circle off the rush for his first goal of the season.

Coyle tied it with 4:16 left in the first when he put in a loose puck in the crease. Pittsburgh challenged that Coyle interfered with Silovs, but the goal was upheld for Coyle’s first goal of the season and first as a Blue Jacket.

Mantha restored its lead with 1:59 remaining in the opening period on a shot from the top of the left circle, also off the rush, for his fourth goal this season.
