Drake Batherson netted the shootout winner to give the host Ottawa Senators a 4-3 comeback victory over the struggling Calgary Flames on Thursday.

Lars Eller collected one goal and one assist while Artem Zub and Jake Sanderson also scored for Ottawa, which has won four of five games.

Goaltender Linus Ullmark made 27 saves through overtime and stopped both shootout attempts he faced.

Yegor Sharangovich, Matt Coronato and Nazem Kadri scored for the Flames, who have only won twice in 12 games (2-8-2). Goalie Devin Cooley stopped 35 shots, including seven in overtime, before the shootout.

Batherson opened the shootout with a short-side shot that found the net. Tim Stutzle followed by whipping a shot inside the far post.

Justin Kirkland and Morgan Frost failed to convert for Calgary, handing Ottawa the extra point.

The Flames built three leads and watched all of them disappear.

Sharangovich opened the scoring at 5:51 of the first period on the power play by ripping a top-shelf shot from the top of the left circle for his second goal of the season.

Eller tied the clash less than two minutes later with a short-handed tally when he buried a rebound of Shane Pinto’s shot, which Cooley stopped on a 2-on-1 rush.

Coronato put the Flames ahead a second time at 15:53 of the first with another man-advantage goal. After his first shot was stopped, he pounced on a loose puck in the crease for his third goal of the season.

However, Zub pulled Ottawa even again at 2:36 of the third period with a seeing-eye point shot through traffic for his second goal of the season.

Kadri gave the Flames their third lead of the game at 8:16 of the third period. After Calgary forced a turnover at its blueline, Kadri and Jonathan Huberdeau sped away on the rush and the give-and-go ended with a quick shot off the post and into the net for his third goal in four games.

But Sanderson tied it again with 2:49 remaining in regulation, sending a long shot that banked off a couple of bodies in front of the crease and into the cage for his third goal of the season.
