The wife of Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Alex Vesia has discussed, for the first time, the death of the couple’s daughter during the World Series.

Kayla Vesia had chronicled the couple’s life during her pregnancy on TikTok and made her final post — before Friday night — on Oct. 18. Heavily pregnant, she celebrated with her husband on the field after the Dodgers won the National League Championship Series and clinched a berth in the World Series.

In her post Friday, she slightly opened up about the loss of their daughter but spent most of the 2 1/2 minutes she spoke thanking fans for their support.

“Alex and I are just trying to get through it everyday. Every day’s so different for us right now and I don’t really have the words,” she said.

“It just felt right to come on here and say, ‘Thank you.’ I am really grateful for the community of you guys, and just expressing your support and love towards us. It really has brought us a lot of comfort during this.”

On Oct. 23, the day before the World Series began in Toronto, the Dodgers announced that Vesia would miss the series.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife Kayla navigate a deeply personal family matter,” the statement read. “The entire Dodgers organization is sending our thoughts to the Vesia family, and we will provide an update at a later date.”

On Nov. 7, the couple issued a joint statement announcing the death of Sterling Sol Vesia on Oct. 26.

“I was prepared for whatever was gonna happen but I wasn’t prepared for not taking my baby home,” Kayla said in the video.

She said she would continue to post on social media.

“I do want to share my journey. I don’t know how much I’m going to share. I don’t know. I don’t know the details of it, but I do know that I want to share, and if it can help somebody who’s going through the same thing, feel like they’re not alone,” she said.
