Chris Bell scored 20 points and John Camden added 18 points and eight rebounds to lead California to a 72-66 win over visiting Stanford on Saturday in Berkeley, Calif.

Dai Dai Ames had 17 points for the Golden Bears (19-8, 7-7 Atlantic Coast Conference), who never trailed and completed their first season sweep of the Cardinal since the 2009-10 season. Cal defeated the Cardinal 78-66 on Jan. 24.

Stanford (16-11, 5-9) trailed by as many as 14 and lost for the seventh time in its last nine games.

Cardinal freshman guard Ebuka Okorie, who entered the contest ranked sixth nationally in scoring at 22.5 points per game, recorded his first career double-double with 17 points and a career-high 13 rebounds.

Aidan Cammann matched his career high with 19 points and Benny Gealer made four 3-pointers and finished with 15 points for Stanford, which shot 33.3% from the field and 28.6% (8 of 28) from 3-point range.

Trailing 71-59 with 1:14 left, Stanford used a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to 71-66 with 29 seconds left before Camden made one of two foul shots with 24 seconds remaining for the final margin.

The Bears connected on 34.9% of their shots, including 34.6% (9 of 26) from beyond the arc.

Cal led 18-16 before going on a 12-1 run to move ahead 30-17 with 5:00 left in the first half.

Ames scored 13 points in the opening half for Cal, which held a 39-25 advantage at intermission. The Bears forced nine turnovers and shot 42.4% from the field for the half.

Cal led 53-40 with 10:51 left in the game before Gealer drilled back-to-back 3-pointers to keep the Cardinal within striking distance.

The Bears turned back another Stanford rally after Cammann made two free throws to pull within 59-53 with 5:30 remaining. Bell hit a 3-pointer on Cal’s next possession to spark a 7-0 run, and the Bears led 66-53 with 3:44 left.
