The Cincinnati Reds optioned struggling right fielder Noelvi Marte to Triple-A Louisville after Sunday’s 9-6 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.
Marte went 0-for-4 on Sunday and is batting just .138 (4-for-29) with no extra-base hits, no RBIs and 10 strikeouts in 11 games this season.
Marte, 24, is a career .249 hitter with 21 homers, 84 RBIs and 26 stolen bases in 202 games since making his debut with the Reds on Aug. 19, 2023.
Cincinnati did not announce a corresponding transaction, but multiple outlets reported Monday that the team is recalling outfielder Rece Hinds from Louisville.
Hinds, 25, is off to a sizzling start in Triple-A, batting .354 with a 1.246 OPS, five home runs and 16 RBIs in 13 games.
Hinds made his Reds debut on July 8, 2024, and batted .191 with seven homers, 14 RBIs and 37 strikeouts in 39 games over the 2024 and 2025 campaigns.
