Emmet Sheehan threw six strong innings, Alex Call hit a go-ahead two-run double in the sixth and the Los Angeles Dodgers closed a four-game series with a 5-2 victory over the visiting San Francisco Giants on Thursday.

Will Smith opened the game with a home run and Teoscar Hernandez had three hits as the Dodgers won the final two games of the series after starting the season 1-4 against the rival Giants.

The Los Angeles offense had eight hits with a lineup that did not include Shohei Ohtani for the second consecutive game. Ohtani pitched but did not hit on Wednesday, then received his first full day off of the year on Thursday as he battles offensive inconsistencies.

Sheehan (3-1) allowed two runs on two hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Tanner Scott pitched a perfect ninth inning for his fourth save.

San Francisco’s Jung Hoo Lee had a two-run inside-the-park homer. Landen Roupp (5-4) gave up four runs on six hits over 5 1/3 innings as the Giants lost consecutive games following a 4-1 run. Roupp struck out seven and walked two.

The Giants’ offense struggled again one night after the team was held scoreless by Ohtani and two Los Angeles relievers.

Starting in the leadoff spot for the first time in his career, Smith hit the fourth pitch of the game from Roupp just over the right field wall. It was his fourth homer of the season.

Los Angeles made it 2-0 in the second on an RBI single from Hyeseong Kim.

With a runner on first in the fifth inning, Lee hit a blooper down the left field line that kicked toward the retaining wall before bouncing past Hernandez and into the corner. Lee dove into home with third home run of the season ahead of the relay throw to the plate.

The Dodgers went ahead for good in the sixth when pinch hitter Call singled to right field off Matt Gage to score a pair of runs for a 4-2 advantage. Miguel Rojas followed with an RBI single to center on the 10th pitch of his at-bat.
