Carson Benge, Marcus Semien and Juan Soto hit home runs for the host New York Mets as they cruised to a 10-1 win over the Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon.

Soto’s long ball was a grand slam in New York’s five-run sixth inning which punctuated their weekend sweep of the Marlins.

Nolan McLean (3-4) overcame control issues to get the win. He walked five and hit another batter but only gave up one run and two hits in five innings. Luis Torrens went 2-for-3 with two RBIs out of the No. 9 spot for the Mets.

Owen Caissie had two of Miami’s three hits and provided the sole RBI as the Marlins dropped their fifth straight game.

The Marlins’ originally scheduled starter Janson Junk was added to the 15-day injured list with shin inflammation hours before first pitch, resulting in an impromptu bullpen game.

John King was Miami’s opener and Benge greeted him with a leadoff home run.

The Marlins were then burned trying to play matchups when they pulled King (1-1) after 1 2/3 innings. Right-hander Anthony Bender was brought in to face Semien, who hit a two-run shot to extend the Mets’ lead to 3-0.

McLean got into trouble in the fourth by walking the first two hitters. AJ Ewing prevented the damage initially with a diving grab in left-center to rob Connor Norby of extra bases, but Caissie’s RBI ground-rule double got Miami on the board.

Miami couldn’t capitalize on its newfound momentum, as the Mets’ bats got after reliever Calvin Faucher in the bottom of the inning. After striking out the first two hitters he faced, Faucher allowed four straight to reach base and Torrens’ two-run single doubled New York’s advantage to 5-1.

Josh White made his major league debut for the Marlins in the sixth and the 25-year-old right-hander received a rude welcome. After he issued a bases-loaded walk to Bo Bichette, Soto tagged White for the Mets’ first grand slam of 2026.

David Peterson closed out the game with four scoreless innings of relief to earn his first career save.
