Rodolfo Duran homered and doubled to drive in three runs and the visiting San Diego Padres beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-2 in Sunday afternoon’s series finale.

Walker Buehler (4-3) worked five innings of one-run ball, Fernando Tatis Jr. added two hits and two RBIs and Jackson Merrill posted two hits as the Padres won the final two games of the three-game series to begin a nine-game road trip.

Jeremiah Jackson homered and Gunnar Henderson and Blaze Alexander each had two hits for the Orioles, who next head out to the West Coast on a nine-game trip.

Baltimore starter Trevor Rogers (3-7) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts across six innings.

Buehler gave up six hits while striking out five without issuing a walk. San Diego used four relievers, with Mason Miller working the final 1 1/3 innings with three strikeouts for his 19th save.

Duran was playing in place of catcher Freddy Fermin, who went into the concussion protocol Sunday after sustaining an injury Saturday. Duran doubled his season RBI total after beginning the day with three through 17 games.

The Padres scored two runs in the second, beginning with Duran’s two-out RBI double followed by Tatis’ single.

Jackson homered to lead off the bottom of the fifth.

Duran pushed the Padres’ lead to 4-1 with a 432-foot, two-run blast in the seventh.

The Orioles closed within 4-2 in the seventh with Henderson’s single producing a run off Jason Adam. San Diego turned to Adrian Morejon, who avoided more damage in the inning when Adley Rutschman grounded into an inning-ending double play.

With runners at first and third with one out in the ninth, Tatis’ line drive was caught by right fielder Alexander, whose throw home was initially ruled good enough to catch Will Wagner. The Padres challenged the call, which was overturned and resulted in a sacrifice fly for Tatis.
