Kyle Stowers homered off of Giants ace Logan Webb as the host Miami Marlins completed a three-game sweep of San Francisco with a 2-1 win on Sunday afternoon.

In his career against Webb, Stowers is 4-for-7 with two homers, two doubles and one walk.

Webb (4-5) pitched his first complete game since 2024, allowing five hits, one walk and two runs in eight innings. He struck out five.

The Marlins are the hottest team in the majors this month, going 14-4. They have also won five of their past six series.

In addition, Miami has won eight straight home games – its longest such streak since 2009.

Miami won this game despite having to place Liam Hicks on the injured list earlier in the day. Hicks, who has a back injury, leads the Marlins in homers (13) and RBIs (53).

Marlins starter Ryan Gusto got a no-decision as he lasted just 4 1/3 innings, striking out six and allowing just one run.

But the Marlins cleaned up effectively as they got scoreless ball from relievers John King (4-1), Calvin Faucher, Michael Petersen and Lake Bachar, who earned his first save of the season.

Miami opened the scoring on the first pitch of the bottom of the second as Stowers ambushed a 91-mph sinker, low in the zone. Stowers hit it out to center, with an exit velocity of 106 mph and a distance of 426 feet.

The Giants tied the score in the third as ex-Marlins batting champ Luis Arraez doubled and scored on Casey Schmitt’s line-drive single down the right-field line.

The Marlins answered in the fourth as Stowers drew a two-out walk and scored on Otto Lopez’s double to right-center, giving Miami a 2-1 lead.

San Francisco nearly tied the score in the eighth as Schmitt got a 99-mph fastball from Petersen and drove it 399 feet, where it was caught on the warning track by center fielder Jakob Marsee.

In the ninth, Bachar worked around a leadoff walk as Miami completed its fifth sweep of the season – the others over the Rockies, Mets, Nationals and Diamondbacks.
