The Chicago Cubs scored three times in the top of the 10th inning and held on for a 4-3 win in the rubber match of a three-game series against the host Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.

Jacob Webb (3-2) gave up a hit and a walk in a scoreless ninth to earn the win for the Cubs, who have won six of their past seven games. Ryan Rolison allowed one run on two hits in two innings as the opener.

Milwaukee starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff allowed only one hit and struck out six in 5 2/3 innings, in just his second start since returning from right shoulder inflammation on June 22. The Brewers have lost two straight after a five-game winning streak.

With Justin Dean on as the automatic runner and two out, reliever Joel Kuhnel (1-3) intentionally walked Pete Crow-Armstrong. Alex Bregman was then hit by a pitch to load the bases, and a four-pitch walk to Michael Busch brought Dean home for a 2-1 Chicago lead.

Seiya Suzuki then stepped up and knocked a single to left, scoring Crow-Armstrong and Bregman for a 4-1 advantage.

In the bottom half, automatic runner Joey Ortiz scored on Christian Yelich’s single to right off Ethan Roberts to make it 4-2. Jackson Chourio walked, and Brice Turang singled to load the bases, ending Roberts’ outing.

Jordan Wicks entered and walked pinch hitter Garrett Mitchell, bringing in Yelich to make it 4-3.

But that’s all the hosts would get. With one out, Gary Sanchez grounded into a double play to end the game and earn Wicks the save.

Sanchez gave the Brewers a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second when he launched a fastball 415 feet just inside the left field foul pole into the upper deck for his eighth home run of the season.

The Cubs tied it 1-1 in the seventh inning. After Ian Happ walked, Nico Hoerner singled to left-center field, which moved Happ to third. Happ then scored on a wild pitch from reliever Aaron Ashby with pinch hitter Matt Shaw at the plate.
