Colson Montgomery’s run-scoring double broke an eighth-inning tie, Jacob Gonzalez drove in three runs with a pair of hits and the visiting Chicago White Sox picked up a rare victory against the Baltimore Orioles, winning 8-2 on Monday night in the opener of a three-game series.

Every batter in the lineup had at least one hit as Chicago won for the fifth time in its last seven games.

The White Sox defeated Baltimore for only the second time in the last 17 meetings. The Orioles swept a three-game series in Chicago this spring.

Grant Taylor (4-1) was the winning pitcher with two shutout innings in relief. White Sox starter Sean Burke worked 5 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on four hits with three walks and eight strikeouts.

Baltimore starter Shane Baz held the White Sox to two runs in seven innings, allowing four hits, issuing four walks and striking out six. He lasted at least five innings in his ninth consecutive start.

Grant Wolfram (1-2) took the loss. He was the first of four Baltimore relievers.

Gunnar Henderson had two hits and Adley Rutschman provided two sacrifice flies for the Orioles, who’ve lost three games in a row. They were limited to four hits and struck out 13 times, including three times in the ninth against Brandon Eisert.

Sam Antonacci was hit by a pitch to begin the eighth and scored on Montgomery’s double to center. Montgomery came home on Randal Grichuk’s two-out single.

Gonzalez roped a two-run single in the ninth to make it 6-2. The White Sox added two more runs on third baseman Blaze Alexander’s error.

Henderson doubled to lead off the bottom of the first inning and scored on Rutschman’s sacrifice fly.

The White Sox plated two runs in the third, the first on Gonzalez’s double and the next on Kyle Teel’s infield single.

Baltimore was back even in the bottom of the third on Rutschman’s second sacrifice fly.
