Five-star prospect David Gabriel Georges, ranked as the No. 2 running back in the Class of 2027, stayed in state by verbally committing on Wednesday to the University of Tennessee.

Georges, listed at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, made the announcement during a live CBS College Sports YouTube stream from Chattanooga’s Baylor School.

The native of Quebec, Canada, who is a rising senior at Baylor, made visits to Tennessee on June 5, Ohio State on May 29 and Ole Miss on June 12, and had many other offers. The Athletic reported that Georges was offered $6 million in total over three years, and that would be the most lucrative deal for a running back in the NIL era.

Georges is No. 10 overall in the 247Sports Composite rankings, the No. 2 running back and No. 1 player in Tennessee.

“(The Volunteers) really made it feel like home,” Georges told 247Sports’ Tom Loy, who moderated Wednesday’s ceremony, per The Tennessean. “Just being around those people and talking with the strength and conditioning coach, I just feel like it would be a great place for me and a great fit.

“(Head coach Josh Heupel) made clear he really wanted me on the team and wanted me as a weapon. I think that’s what really was the best thing.”

Georges had 163 carries for 1,756 yards and 26 touchdowns last season, despite dealing with an ankle injury midseason, as Baylor won the Division II-AAA state title. He rushed 114 times for 1,103 yards and 14 TDs his sophomore season. He won the Tennessee Titans Mr. Football award the past two seasons.
