The Indiana Fever are chasing a sweep of the regular-season series against the defending champion Las Vegas Aces when two of the top five teams in the WNBA meet Thursday at Indianapolis.

The Fever (19-11) have won nine of their last 12 games, in a span that includes wins at Las Vegas on July 5 and July 12. The Aces (21-9) have won nine of their last 13 games, even with the two losses to the Fever last month.

Indiana guard Kelsey Mitchell is coming off a 37-point performance Sunday in a 108-100 road loss to the Minnesota Lynx that snapped a five-game winning streak.

Mitchell has scored at least 20 points in each of her last 14 games, leaving her one game shy from tying A’ja Wilson’s WNBA record for consecutive 20-point games set between the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

“It’s really fun and, obviously, it makes my life easy,” the Fever’s Caitlin Clark said of Mitchell’s output. “I just try to give her the rock. It feels like every time she shoots it, it goes in. And just the pace that she plays with, she always puts the defense under stress.

“She always has her foot on the gas, so expect 40 soon, too.”

Mitchell had 27 points in each of Indiana’s victories over Las Vegas, while showing the ability to get to the free-throw line with aggressive play. She was 18 of 20 from the line in both games combined.

Las Vegas is in the midst of a five-game road trip before returning home for five straight games.

The Aces lost the first game of the road swing 84-83 on Saturday against the Chicago Sky despite Wilson’s 36 points and 12 rebounds.

Jackie Young recorded a triple-double (28 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists) in Monday’s 109-87 win over the Atlanta Dream.

“Getting my third career triple-double with the Aces is special,” Young said. “It just comes down to making the right plays and trusting my teammates to knock down shots.”
