The Indiana Fever said the fans escorted from their seats at Thursday night’s game against the visiting Las Vegas Aces did not violate the WNBA’s code of conduct.

A situation developed in the third quarter of the Aces’ 86-84 overtime win at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, with Las Vegas guard Jackie Young motioning toward fans sitting courtside.

The game was stopped and security ended up escorting a woman out through a tunnel. She returned to her seat a few minutes later, but two men seated near her were then ushered out.

“He was just chirping all game,” Young told reporters after the game. “I let him have it, and then he just made one (comment) that was a little bit too far.”

Young declined to reveal exactly what was said. She said she was pleased with how the incident was handled.

“They did the right thing,” she said. “Obviously, we don’t want to see fans get kicked out, but at the end of the day, we’re human too. So let’s just show up to games, have fun and not take it too far.”

The Fever issued a statement saying that arena security had spoken with fans and witnesses involved and determined that “there was no violation of the Fan Code of Conduct.”

“The fan was not removed from the arena, but elected to leave,” read the statement. “We consider the matter closed.”
