Four-time Pro Bowl running back Nick Chubb announced his retirement from the NFL in a social media post on Friday.

Chubb, 30, had seen his production decline in recent seasons as he battled injuries. In 2025, his lone season with the Houston Texans, he rushed for 506 yards in 15 games (nine starts).

Prior to that, during a seven-year run with the Cleveland Browns, Chubb rushed for 6,843 yards, which included four straight 1,000-yard seasons with a Pro Bowl selection at the end of each.

He retires as the third-leading rusher in Browns history behind Jim Brown (12,312) and Leroy Kelly (7,274).

He shared his announcement on Instagram, where he wrote, “I’ve known for some time now, but I’m finally ready to share that I’m done playing football.”

Bursting onto the scene with a 996-yard campaign as a rookie in 2018, Chubb was often a rare bright spot for the Browns, who made two playoff appearances and logged five losing records over his tenure.

A second-round draft pick in 2018 out of Georgia, he finishes his NFL career with 7,349 yards and 54 touchdowns on 1,462 carries (5.0 average).

“I say this to all my brothers still on the field, still in the heat of it: There’s a life waiting for you after football, too. And health is the real wealth,” Chubb wrote. “I end my career in a great place. Even though there are some things I wish had happened differently, I can say that I have no regrets.”
