Francisco Lindor homered and later scoring the winning run in the 10th inning as the host New York Mets beat the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2 in the opener of a three-game series Tuesday.

Bo Bichette flew out to lead off the 10th against Trevor Megill (2-3), who then walked Carson Benge and Luis Robert Jr. Lindor, who opened the 10th as the automatic runner, broke for home on Christopher Morel’s grounder to third. David Hamilton’s throw beat Lindor but sailed to the first base side of the plate.

Jonathan Pintaro (2-0) walked one in a scoreless top of the 10th to get the win.

Robert homered and had two hits for the Mets, who are 13-8 this month. Benge finished with three hits while Lindor added two hits.

Luis Lara hit a run-scoring single in the fourth and Christian Yelich delivered the game-tying, pinch-hit RBI double in the ninth for the Brewers, who have dropped two straight following a 6-1 stretch.

William Contreras had three hits and scored both runs for Milwaukee. He opened the ninth with a double off Austin Warren before Jake Bauers walked ahead of Yelich.

The Brewers’ comeback cost Mets rookie Zac Thornton a win following another solid start. Thornton gave up one run on seven hits and no walks while striking out four. He is 3-3 with a 2.35 ERA in eight starts since his most recent recall from Triple-A Syracuse on July 12.

Kyle Harrison allowed one run on six hits and one walk while striking out five over five innings for the Brewers. The southpaw wriggled out of a bases-loaded jam in the first, when he gave up three straight one-out singles before striking out Eric Wagaman and getting Jared Young to ground out.

The teams combined for seven hits — all singles — but stranded seven runners in the first three innings before the Brewers snapped the scoreless tie. Contreras led off the fourth with a double and raced home on Lara’s two-out single to left.

Harrison retired six straight before Lindor homered to left-center with one out in the fifth.

Robert gave the Mets the lead in the sixth with a leadoff homer against Chad Patrick. New York’s Nate Lavender retired all six batters he faced before the Brewers mounted their rally against Warren.
