Cal Raleigh homered and George Kirby pitched 7 2/3 strong innings as the Seattle Mariners defeated the visiting Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 Tuesday night.

Kirby (9-10) allowed one run on six hits. The right-hander walked one and struck out nine.

Mariners closer Andres Munoz worked the ninth for his 24th save of the season.

The Phillies opened the scoring in the top of the second inning. With one out, Bryson Stott singled to right field and advanced to third as Brandon Marsh singled on a soft liner to left. Justin Crawford followed by lining an RBI single to center.

Raleigh, who went deep three times in a 9-2 victory Monday that snapped the Phillies’ nine-game winning streak, led off the bottom of the inning with a blast to right off Aaron Nola (5-10). He tied a franchise record with home runs in four consecutive at-bats.

The Mariners took the lead in the sixth. Julio Rodriguez reached on an infield single with one out and stole second. Josh Naylor lined a run-scoring single to center, though he was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double.

Seattle scored twice more in the seventh off the Phillies’ bullpen. With one out, Taylor Ward was hit by a pitch from reliever Orion Kerkering. J.P. Crawford, activated from the injured list (left wrist inflammation) earlier in the day, grounded a single to center, sending Ward to third. Rookie Brock Rodden, the No. 9 hitter in the lineup, drew a walk to load the bases.

Kerkering got Randy Arozarena to foul out to second baseman Luis Arraez for the second out before left-hander Brooks Raley came in to face Dominic Canzone. The move backfired as Canzone lined a two-run single to left-center to make it 4-1.

Nola, whose brother Austin is the Mariners’ bullpen coach, pitched six quality innings. The right-hander allowed two runs on three hits, with three walks and seven strikeouts in his failed bid for a third straight victory.
