Dylan Crews’ two-out bases-loaded single in the 10th gave the host Washington Nationals a 5-4 win over the Miami Marlins on Saturday.
It was Crews’ first career walk-off hit and the first walk-off win of the season for the Nationals, who won their third straight.
Heriberto Hernandez homered for the Marlins, who have lost four of their last five.
Crews lined an 0-1 four-seam fastball from Michael Petersen (3-4) into right-centerfield to end it.
Orlando Ribalta (1-2), who pitched the 10th, got the win.
Nationals’ starter Cade Cavalli left the game after taking Javier Sanoja’s liner off Cavalli’s right calf with two out in the fourth. He recovered to throw Sanoja out at first to end the half inning but limped to the dugout.
Cavalli did not allow a hit in four innings with three walks and eight strikeouts. He is 12-5 with a 3.12 ERA with 177 strikeouts in 152 2/3 innings for the season.
Marlins’ starter Sandy Alcantara gave up four runs and eight hits in six innings with a walk and three strikeouts.
Miami tied the game 4-4 with four runs in the seventh, all with two out. Kyle Stowers hit a two-run double and Hernandez launched a two-run homer off Brad Lord, who allowed all four. It was Hernandez’s 22nd home run, which sailed over the left-centerfield fence and was estimated at 413 feet.
Washington took a 4-0 lead in the second.
The first two scored on catcher Joe Mack’s throwing error on Crews’ infield single down the first base line that allowed Jose Pena and Daylen Lile to score. Brady House’s two-out RBI single made it 3-0, and he came in on Jorbit Vivas’ double.
After striking out the side in the first, Cavalli walked the bases loaded with one out in the second but then fanned Owen Caissie and Mack to escape the jam.
