The New Orleans Pelicans waived veteran Taj Gibson on Wednesday, one day after acquiring the 41-year-old forward/center in a trade.
New Orleans added Gibson and AJ Johnson from the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday in exchange for Jordan Hawkins, Micah Peavy, a future second-round draft pick and a future second-round pick swap.
Gibson averaged 3.4 points and 2.7 rebounds in 10 games (one start) with Memphis last season.
He has played in 1,012 games (462 starts) across 17 NBA seasons with eight teams since being drafted in the first round (26th overall) by the Chicago Bulls in 2009. He has career averages of 8.3 points and 5.7 rebounds.
