The WTA Finals will be held in Charlotte, N.C., from 2027-29, the tour announced on Wednesday.

The WTA’s year-end championships will be staged at Spectrum Center, home of the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets. The arena has a capacity of approximately 19,000.

“Women’s tennis has spent generations helping push women’s sports forward, and we have an opportunity now to lead again by building a championship experience that reflects just how far women’s sport has come and where it is going next,” WTA chair Valerie Camillo said.

“In Charlotte, we found more than a host city. We found partners who share that ambition and a place where we can build a true home for the Finals and for the WTA.”

The year-end tournament was moved from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to Indian Wells, Calif., for 2026.

“2026 is a year of transition for the WTA,” Camillo said in a call with reporters on Tuesday. “We are doing the normal belt tightening you would expect of any business while also absorbing the unexpected cost of relocating the WTA Finals to Indian Wells. What’s most important to know is that we have a clear path to deliver consistent sustainable financial performance in 2027 and beyond supported by strong revenue and audience growth.”

Camillo acknowledged that many details remain in flux, such as a timeline for the WTA’s move and the headquarters’ new location in Charlotte. The WTA Finals schedule will work around the Hornets’ schedule, reducing the tennis slate from eight days to five.
