The Vancouver Whitecaps signed MLS All-Star Thomas Muller to a contract extension through the 2027 season on Tuesday.
The 37-year-old German midfielder has 31 goal contributions (19 goals, 12 assists) in 45 appearances since joining the Whitecaps in August 2025.
“Since arriving just over a year ago, Thomas has fully embraced this club, this city and this province,” sporting director Axel Schuster said. “He has further strengthened the winning mentality we have built within our group over the last several years, while demonstrating just how committed he is to help this club succeed and how much he wants to win. There is no question that we have reached new heights as a club since Thomas arrived.”
The Whitecaps won the Western Conference and reached their first MLS Cup final last season. This season, they lead the West with 50 points (15-6-5) through 26 matches.
“Thomas has played a significant role in that success through his world-class talent, performances and leadership on the pitch,” Schuster said. “We are delighted to have him extend his time with us as we continue our pursuit of trophies on all fronts.”
Muller starred for Bundesliga powerhouse and boyhood club Bayern Munich, winning 13 league titles and scoring 150 goals in more than 500 appearances from 2008-25. He also scored 45 goals in 131 caps with the German national team, winning the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
“For me, it’s still so much fun to be out on the pitch every week, and I feel good physically,” Muller said. “I’m very happy to continue this journey with the ‘Caps, and I’m looking forward to what we can achieve together this year and next year in the Sprint Season.”
