Arizona Cardinals placed starting left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. on injured reserve for the third straight year and he will miss the remainder of the season with a torn left biceps, head coach Mike LaFleur announced Tuesday.
Johnson sustained the injury in the fourth quarter of Arizona’s 36-24 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday.
“I don’t know exactly when (surgery is) going to happen, but it’s going to happen soon to get the process going. I know I was quick on that,” LaFleur said.
“I feel for him — just all these guys. It sucks for him, first and foremost. It sucks obviously for the Arizona Cardinals, our offense, this team. But it’s NFL football — here we are in October and the show goes on.”
Rookie Jayden Williams, who was a seventh-round pick out of Mississippi, replaced Johnson on Sunday.
Arizona also placed tight end Hunter Long (right knee) on injured reserve, signed tight end Tegan Quitoriano from the practice squad to the active roster and signed offensive tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. from the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad to the team’s active roster.
In other moves, tight end Kenny Yeboah, offensive lineman Austin Deculus and safety Mark Perry were signed to the practice squad and offensive lineman Vershon Lee and cornerback D’Shawn Jamison were released from the practice squad.
Johnson, 25, started all four of his games this season and all 47 in which he has played since being selected by the Cardinals with the sixth overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Ohio State.
Wills, 27, played in 58 regular-season games (57 starts) and two playoff games (both starts) for the Cleveland Browns from 2020-24. He injured his knee in a 2023 game against the Cardinals, played in just five games in 2024 and missed the entire 2025 season.
Wills signed with the Chicago Bears in March and, after dealing with a back issue, was released on Aug. 30. He signed with the Bills on Sept. 1.
Cleveland selected Wills with the 10th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Alabama.
Long, 28, has two receptions on two targets for 15 yards in four games as a reserve this season. He has played on 33% of the offensive snaps (91) and 53% of special teams snaps (57).
He has 22 career receptions for 168 yards and two touchdowns in 50 games (eight starts) for the Miami Dolphins (2021-22), Los Angeles Rams (2023-24), Jacksonville Jaguars (2025) and Cardinals.
Arizona obtained him and a 2028 seventh-round pick in an Aug. 30 trade with the Jaguars for a 2028 sixth-round selection.
Miami picked Long in the third round of the 2021 draft out of Boston College.
The Cardinals (1-3) host the Lions (2-2) on Sunday in Glendale, Ariz.
