Two-time U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau may already have a landing spot following Thursday’s LIV Golf shutdown.
The Telegraph reported that the DP World Tour offered the 33-year-old American a “free route back” to professional golf and full playing privileges on the European circuit in 2027. The spot is based on his 2024 U.S. Open victory.
On the DP World Tour, DeChambeau could potentially earn back his PGA Tour card in 2028 if he finishes in the top 10 in next year’s Race to Dubai money list.
DeChambeau played his first LIV Golf event in 2023 and won five individual titles on the tour, including two during what turned out to be the league’s final season in 2026. He served as captain of the Crushers GC team.
A nine-time winner on the PGA Tour, DeChambeau won U.S. Open championships at Winged Foot in 2020 and Pinehurst in 2024.
After losing the financial support of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, LIV Golf was unable to secure the necessary financial commitment from other sources to proceed with plans for “LIV 2.0” in 2027. The league confirmed in U.S. bankruptcy court on Thursday that it will wind down operations.
