Zach Wilson, QB, BYU
- Height: 6-2 Weight: 210
- 40 time: 4.67
- Projection: First Round

Overview
A Utah native who decided to stay in-state to play his college ball, Wilson’s rise to the top of the quarterback ranks has been a power surge.
Wilson took over the starting job for the Cougars during his true freshman season but the results were mixed during the early segments of his career. He entered his junior season viewed as a possible developmental passer who seemed more likely to join the NFL ranks in 2022 than in 2021.
Wilson’s play took a massive leap forward as he conducted a BYU juggernaut team that ravaged most of its competition. Wilson declared for the 2021 NFL Draft with his draft stock still riding high.
Analysis
- Wilson is a quick-footed passer with ideal athleticism and control to reset platforms and create opportunities in the midst of chaos.
- Natural feel for pressure and ability to adjust to it should be able to translate easily to the pro game.
- Arm isn’t elite, but he has the gun to hit every target on the range.
- While Wilson isn’t the type of runner to warrant usage on designed runs, he is a capable scrambler who has enough mobility to extend plays with his legs and find success when plays break down.
- Ability to work through progressions quickly inside of structure could use some work as he transitions to the NFL level.
- Must also continue to improve his anticipatory throwing ability and ball placement. While he is not a tiny individual, his light frame could draw some durability concerns against bigger competition.
Pro Comparison
Baker Mayfield, Browns: Wilson’s mobility and creativity as a scrambler is much more dynamic than Mayfield’s, but they share a lot of similarities in how they process information, identify pressure, and attack various areas of the field.
