The Big East will limit the 2020 fall sports to conference games only.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the conference followed the lead of the Big Ten and Pac-12 by shortening the season and reducing travel by eliminating out-of-league games.
The Big East doesn’t sponsor football, but cross country, field hockey, volleyball and lacrosse are the primary sports impacted.
No decision was made on the fate of basketball season, which is slated to open in November.
The Big Ten was the first Power 5 football conference to trim the schedule last week.
The Patriot League and the Ivy League decided to cancel all sports played during the fall semester while leaving open the option to move some sports to the spring.
