A request to hold the much-anticipated heavyweight bout between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua in the very early morning hours has been filed in Cardiff, Wales.
If approved, the bout would have a ring walk of 1 a.m. local time on Dec. 12, which equates to 8 p.m. on the East Coast of the United States and 5 p.m. on the West Coast on Dec. 11.
The 74,000-seat Principality Stadium, home to the Wales national rugby team, is set to host the bout.
Both Fury and Joshua have different stipulations as to where the bout can take place, with Cardiff working out as a compromise after locations like Dublin, Las Vegas and New York also were considered, The Athletic reported.
Fury, 38, is from Manchester, England, while Joshua, 36, is from Watford, Hertfordshire, England.
Cardiff requires boxing and wrestling events to end by 1 a.m., with the request asking for an extension until 3 a.m., with the stadium open until 3:30 a.m. A request to serve alcohol into the early-morning hours also has been submitted.
Netflix is set to broadcast the bout, which was announced in September.
Elected officials, as well as members of the public, have until Nov. 3 to give their opinion on the time extension to the Cardiff Council.
