Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons and Northwestern offensive tackle Rashawn Slater are the favorites to be selected by the Denver Broncos with the ninth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft on Thursday.
Oddsmakers shifted to the Big Ten products following of a deal between the Broncos and Carolina Panthers sending quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to Denver. The betting market doesn’t require the pick to be No. 9, meaning if the Broncos move up or down in the draft and select the player, the bet is still paid.
FanDuel and DraftKings quickly updated their odds board for the picks by specific number, bumping Ohio State’s Justin Fields from the favorite to the No. 3 player on the team odds board.
Fields and North Dakota State’s Trey Lance are now +750 to be picked by Denver, per FanDuel.
South Carolina cornerback Jaycee Horn is fifth at +850, via FanDuel and DraftKings. The Broncos landed Bridgewater for a sixth-round pick and already have quarterback Drew Lock under contract.
But Bridgewater faltered late last season in Carolina and Lock remains unproven, leaving open the possibility Denver’s new brain trust, headed by general manager George Paton, would chase a quarterback with the team’s top pick.
