AmFam Champ moving to new course, team format in ’25

american family insurance madison

The Champions Tour’s American Family Insurance Championship is getting a makeover in 2025.

The June 6-8 tournament is moving to Madison’s TPC Wisconsin and switching to a team format.

“With this tournament moving to a new course in 2025, it’s an ideal time to try a new format as well,” tournament host and course co-designer Steve Stricker said in a news release on Monday.

“I was honored to play in and serve as captain at both the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup, which showcased the excitement that team golf brings. This format adds a level of intrigue and competition to the game. We appreciate how the Madison community has embraced the AmFam Champ, and the new format and course will continue to provide a unique experience for our fans.”

The tour’s top 38 players will choose their partners and compete over 54 holes for a $3 million purse. The winners will share the top prize of $600,000. The first and third days will follow a best-ball format, with the second day being a team scramble.

“The new team format … will bring an exciting dynamic to the tournament, and I can’t wait to see the incredible teamwork and competition on display,” tour president Miller Brady said. “As this event enters its first year at TPC Wisconsin, this new team competition promises thrilling golf at a fantastic new venue. We are looking forward to an unforgettable week that will continue to elevate the event experience for players and fans alike.”
