Wrexham confirmed the signings of right wing-back Issa Kabore and left-back Jacques Ekomie on Thursday.
Manager Phil Parkinson said the additions were timely, particularly Ekomie’s, with George Thomason set to miss 10 weeks due to a thigh injury suffered in Wrexham’s 1-1 draw with Watford. Thomason had been playing left wing-back with Liberato Cacace also sidelined by injury.
“Unfortunately Tommo got injured last week, and he’s going to be out for 10 weeks,” Parkinson said. “Libby’s still not right, so we just couldn’t go into this period of the season with only Longy (Ryan Longman), who could play on the left.
“So they’re two really important signings because Issa can play on the left as well. It’s not totally natural to him, but he has done that in his career. So we needed to cover ourselves.”
Kabore and Ekomie follow the additions of right wing-back Danny Imray, midfielder Ben Whiteman and goalkeeper Anthony Patterson during the transfer window that closes on Tuesday.
Wrexham play Birmingham City at the Racecourse Ground on Friday.
“We’ve had a busy week and obviously the work continues, but now it’s focusing on the game tomorrow night and concentrating on what we’ve got to do,” Parkinson said.
Kabore, 25, made 32 appearances across all competitions for Wrexham in 2025-26 while on loan from Manchester City. He signed a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee. Kabore led Wrexham with eight assists in the Championship last season after joining the Red Dragons on the transfer deadline day last September.
“I’m very happy to be back. It feels good to be here again,” Kabore said. “Everybody knows our ambition is to get to the Premier League, and I’m here to fight for that promotion.”
Ekomie, 23, was in the final year of his deal signed with Angers in 2024, and started 25 of his 32 league appearances last season. He signed a four-year contract with Wrexham for an undisclosed fee.
“I’m excited to be here. It is a very big and interesting project for me,” Ekomie said. “I’m here to progress, and I’m very happy to be here.
“I want to achieve great things at Wrexham. I think it’s an ambitious project and I want to bring all my experience to help the team achieve our goals.”
